The inspiration behind Fake Spectreman No.5 comes from early cover artwork from the Brazilian Spectreman comic book series.

The Brazilian Spectreman comics were published by Bloch Editores starting in 1983, with 30 issues released up to 1986. According to Brazilian collector references, this comic series is generally considered an unofficial adaptation, which may explain why the character setting and visual style were handled with a lot more freedom. One of the most distinctive features is the blue Spectreman design often seen on the covers.

In 2015 and 2016, we released two Brazilian comic-style Spectreman figures through Medicom Toy. Fake Spectreman No.5 continues that strange, exaggerated, and bootleg-flavored visual feeling from those Brazilian comic covers, reinterpreted again as a Sofubi toy.
