Awesome Toy SPACE FLYMAN and PUNCH BOY Sofubi figure Set
“Red × Black” color scheme!
Introduction by Awesome Toy:
The figures is based on Hong Kong SPACE FLYMAN produced in the late 1970s.
SPACE FLYMAN: 285mm with 5 articulations
Color scheme inspired by the historic Italian “Red Batman” from mid-century reprints. Italy’s early comic-printing presses often struggled to separate subtle grays from black, so Mondadori’s artists recolored Batman’s suit into bright red — a high-contrast primary color that printed cleanly on cheap newsprint. This technical workaround accidentally created an iconic regional variant: the Red Batman that many Italian fans grew up with long before the TV show arrived.
This red-and-black combo also reminds me of Mr. Incredible from Pixar’s The Incredibles — that same bold, heroic red balanced with solid black accents. Not a direct reference, but the coincidence is fun to notice, and I thought some of you might enjoy the connection too.
PUNCH BOY: 260mm with 5 articulations
Color scheme inspired by the well-known Turkish “Batman” knock-off. A 1973 film titled Yarasa Adam Betmen (also known simply as Turkish Batman or Bedmen). This film is a prime example of “Turksploitation” cinema, which involved low-budget Turkish filmmakers adapting popular Western characters and stories without authorization.
